IDS farming - Need help!
I recently started farming ice imps in mineral springs for the infamous IDS... but there are a few things I am unable to solve and screws most of my runs forcing me to port to granite and start over all again
1- At the end of tasca's demise, there is a group of mobs blocking the entrance to springs. This I know how to deal with, but the group right before, whenever I try to move in, charge, sprint or whatever I may try, there are a bunch of hexxes popping up on me slowing me and giving me roughly 9 health degen. I drop fast and it pisses me off to start off with 15% DP without having the run started... Is this just a bad spawn I had like 5 times or its always there?
2- I come up to the ice imp cave (finally), but there's a ----- group of aviracas wandering with the imps... Again, is this crap just a bad spawn I have 4 times out of 5 or it's always there? Is there a way to fight them without dropping my imp-killing capacity? Cause I tried and I dropped so fast I didnt have a chance to TRY to heal...
I'm not so rich for the moment, so can't afford all the candy canes, but I know that is one thing that could solve my first problem. I'm just curious if there's any other solution to this...
You might want to know my build to help me on these problems. Here it is:
Warrior/Mesmer
4 inspiration
11+1 strength
9+1 swordsmanship
10+1 tactics
healing signet
dolyak signet
elemental resistance
watch yourself
desperation blow (very unsure on this one, sometimes I feel its useless)
savage slash (except for ice beast I haven't found it useful either)
charge
sprint
I have made one run I can call "succesful" because I made it to the cave and died to where the ice beast is cause I aggroed too many shadows. Got one sword off this one and haven't been able to redo the thing ever since.
Please help me!!!

you're doing this solo? or with henchies? or with a team of players?
If solo, congratz then, you did what i never was able to with my warrior!!
about point 2: i 'm guessing you take the high road to the caves? In that case, that mob of avicara's is always there (or as far as i know). If you take the low route, you come up behind them, right before the cave with all the imps.
That's all i can say, as for the rest, i am still looking for a way to solo that bloody run.

If you are so worried about hexes, bring Hex Breaker instead of Dolak Signet. Charge + Hex Breaker will allow you to get to the exit of Tasca's Demise still alive.
Distracting Blow, 100 Blades, Final Thrust are good skills to bring too. Distracting Blow may do 0 damage, but it has a faster recharge time and costs less energy.
I am a bit surprised you are not using an Axe instead of a sword.
I'm sure there are build for soloing IDS in this Forum.

Well, Pick Me, I am actually following a build I found on this forum. Didn't think about hex breaker cause I'm relatively new to the mesmer class (switched as I started IDS :P) but thanks for all the suggestions, gonna try this out as soon as I want (which is like now...)
Thanks for thy help!

You don't need hex breaker imho. The two major problems on the run are the summit before the entrance to mineral springs and then the avicara on the slope before the cave. Both of the these are basically bad spawn problems.
There are times that you can run through the summit at the end untouched, others where there is no way that will happen. But dying at this point isn't a big deal. You will res closer to the exit and simply sprint outta there. You can recover the dp by killing mobs of avicara (the warrior/ranger only mobs) and the giants further in. Even if you don't bother with that you can do this with -15 easy.
The second problem with Avicara is more diffucult. They don't always spawn there, sometimes they are further back. You can try and pull them towards you ( they tend to charge your location once they are aggroed) and then run past them to a safe spot between them and the imps. Or you may just have to rerun if you can't get by them. I've seen so many wierd spawns on this run. Sometimes nothing is on the slope before the cave, sometimes there are avicara mixed right in with imps trolls and golems. Sometimes its just imps. It really varies and sometimes you just have to give up on a particularaly bad spawn.
Also you don't need both charge and sprint. Its useful while you are getting the hang of it, but eventually drop charge for something else. I found that,
Elemental Res
Dol Sig
Wat Your
Defy Pain {E}
Healing Sig
Sprint
Desperation Blow
Galrath Slash/exe strike for an axe
works very well. The Defy Pain makes it a cakewalk even when you get multiple troll and Golem spawns inside.
anyway, good luck to you!

You could always duo it or trio it with W/Me's that you trust... I have more trouble with the siege golems and the trolls than the avicara... If they're too close to the cave you're just SOL... respawn and try again... 15% DP is nothing to worry about as long as there's a good spawn.
